Price Drop
Recent weeks have seen coffee futures drop in price from the highs late last year. Futures for green (unroasted) Arabica beans (the most widely consumed worldwide) have dropped due to a reduction of worldwide demand and the anticipation that Brazil (the worlds largest producer) will have a record crop. Robusta beans (largely used in the production of instant coffee) have also fallen off its highs...

Kona Coffee Farmers Fight to Protect Their Name
A group of Kona coffee farmers are opposing HB 280, a recently passed bill that would stop mandatory inspections of Kona-grown coffee, making them voluntary. These voluntary inspections could allow growers to use less than 10% Kona coffee while claiming it to be certified (by the State of Hawaii) as a Kona blend. The Kona Coffee Farmers Association argue this would ultimately hurt the name of...

The daily cup becoming an expensive habit
Have you noticed that price of coffee rising over the last few weeks? Its not just the designer coffees being affected its being passed onto your basic black cup of joe. The fuel of my bean(being)
Coffee leads men to trifle away their time, scald their chops, and spend their money, all for a little base, black, thick, nasty, bitter, stinking nauseous puddle water.  -The Women’s Petition Against Coffee, 1674
